I don’t want you to think it’s feasible for you to be headlining Ultra Music Festival in 6 months. I want you to be the second type of producer. Setbacks push them to learn faster and harder. They put their head down and get stuck in. They know that they need to fail before they make anything worthwhile. They know that it takes work, and that they just need to make crappy art for a while. They know that learning a new skill is difficult… just like anything. The second type are the producers who “get it.” We’ll call them the “seeking-instant-gratification-without-realizing-that-becoming-good-at-something-takes-time” learners. The first type? They’re the ones who-if they don’t quit-make incredibly slow progress, think they’re better than they really are, and rarely enjoy making music. There are two types of new electronic music producers.
